"San Antonio 116 - Golden State 111
Although the Warriors stumbled down the stretch, they got off to a blistering start. Kelenna Azubuike scored seven points in the first four minutes and both Stephen Jackson and Baron Davis finished the opening period with nine points. Despite Golden State's quick start, the Warriors led by only one at the end of the quarter, as Francisco Elson and Fabricio Oberto kept the Spurs close with seven points apiece in the first period.
Davis and Azubuike would split a team-high in scoring with Al Harrington and Marco Belinelli, as all four finished with 17 points. Davis added nine assists in 30 minutes, while Al Harrington flourished in his new role off the bench with 14 rebounds.
Training camp invitee Darius Washington had a game-high 18 points for the Spurs, who were without the services of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker or Bruce Bowen.
The Warriors also played without some of their regulars. Andris Biedrins sat out the contest with a sprained toe, Hudson missed the game to rest his sore left groin and Monta Ellis has yet to see the floor in the preseason as he recovers from his sprained neck. However, both Mickael Pietrus and Stephane Lasme returned to action after missing the last few gamew with injuries. Lasme had six points, two rebounds and two blocks in 15 minutes, while Pietrus cracked the starting lineup and knocked down two of his three three-point attempts.
Pietrus' second three-pointer tied it at 109 with 56 seconds remaining in the game, but San Antonio took control of the contest from there via the free-throw line. Washington knocked down all six of his free-throw attempts in the final minute to put the game away.
The Warriors will next return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Seattle to take on Kevin Durant and the SuperSonics.

POSTGAME QUOTES
DON NELSON
On Who Played Well
"That’s hard to say, because nobody was really good enough at all phases of the game to get a high grade. Azubuike was probably the most solid for us on both ends of the floor."
On Marco Belinelli
"I thought he was going to be a little more NBA-ready than he seems to be. He’s going to be a very good player, by the way, but he’s like a rookie though. You just have to bring him up slowly. He’s got a huge upside though, all of our rookies do."
Stephen Jackson
On The Tonight's Game
"We did some good things and some bad things, so we have a little way to go."
On The Team's Young Rookies
"Our young guys are coming along good. We have a lot of rookies and have a lot of them trying to fill in at new spots. Just as much as the veterans have to work to take it up a level, the rookies are having to work as hard to get to where we need them to be."
On What The Team Needs To Improve On
"We need to sit down a look at some film and see what we need to work on. We definitely need to get better on defense for sure…and just focus on the other things we need to work on and move forward as we get closer to the (regular) season."
