+ Sweet-shooting, trigger-happy wingman. Rarely attacks rim or draws fouls.

+ Good ball handler for size but lacks explosiveness and doesn't see court well.

+ Mediocre defender. Decent size and mobility, but lacks strength, leaping ability.

Synergy's stats showed Belinelli as one of the league's most flammable defenders last season, but I'm not sure I buy it. His data from previous seasons was fine and his 82games.com stats (opposing PER of 13.80) don't exactly scream mismatch (although that comes with a bit of an asterisk: Fellow wing starter Trevor Ariza's opponent PER wasn't nearly as good; in a related story, the Hornets often cross-matched last season to hide Belinelli on defense). And on a team that wouldn't play Marcus Thornton because of his defensive shortcomings, it would have been really odd to continue starting Belinelli if he was really that bad. Bruce Bowen he ain't, but you could do worse.

Offensively, Belinelli did exactly what was expected, shooting 41.4 percent on 3s and averaging a solid 17.1 points per 40 minutes. Additionally, more than half his 2s were long Js and he hit 43.2 percent of those. Belinelli will catch and shoot even if he isn't really open, but his passing skills need work -- only nine shooting guards had a lower assist rate. He also draws few fouls shooting all those Js, although he's become adept at earning a few extra ones by jumping into defenders on his release.

They might be doing this in alphabetical order because Bargnani's is out, but not Gallinari's.
