[Ace: Ace with PointGuardU.com here with Amedeo Della Valle, Findlay Prep 2012 point guard. Amedeo, describe your game.
Amedeo Della Valle: Uh, I think my, my most important part of my game is my basketball IQ, and I, I really like basketball, and I can shoot, I can really shoot. That’s my most main characteristics in my, my game.
Ace: Now I know you haven’t’ played a game over yet, but I know you’ve done some scrimmages. What’s the biggest difference between Europe ball and coming over here?
ADV: Uh, the biggest difference, uh, uh here, you have more athletic players and the game is faster and in Europe, it’s like more, every guy is more skilled and they are not so athletics.
Ace: You play with Brandon Ashley here, describe his game for me.
ADV: Yeah, Brandon Ashley is a great player. I like him. He can, he can post up, he can play out-, outside the 3-point line. I like how he plays.
Ace: Now you’re considering going to school in America, correct?
ADV: Yeah.
Ace: What colleges are you considering and who do you have offers from?
ADV: Uh, I don’t, I don’t know yet. I will sign in spring. But I am considering like, uh, schools that are offer me are Cal, Arizona, Gonzaga, uh, Portland, Utah, uh, St. Mary’s, and, some, Creighton, and some other schools.
Ace: Who have you talked to from Arizona?
ADV: Uh, I talk with Sean Miller and Coach Pasternack.
Ace: And what have they told you about the school?
ADV: Uh, they like explain my, their program. They told me I’m the perfect fit for, for them. And I’m trying to learn about them.
Ace: What’s the biggest strength of your game right now?
ADV: Uh, biggest strength, I think pass the ball.
Ace: What about biggest weakness?
ADV: I think my body and my defense are my biggest weakness.
Ace: What are some things you like to do off the court?
ADV: Uh, I like hanging out with my, my teammates. I spend a lot of time with my roommate, Dominic Artis, and that’s it.
Ace: Describe Dominic’s game, I know you guys are friends.
ADV: Oh yeah, he’s my, he’s really my friend. I like, I like how he plays, he’s really fast. He has incredible skill, he’s incredibly skilled and he can really shoot and pass the ball, he’s a good player.
Ace: Hey thanks for talking to Coast2CoastHoops. ]
As Amedeo mentions, he expects to sign with a program in the spring, which is good news for Arizona and the coaches. Should Josiah Turner or Jordin Mayes not return in 2012, the team would be looking for some depth in the backcourt and the European guard would be a welcome addition.
While everyone will certainly want to see Valle in American games this season -- he will be teammates with Brandon Ashley, UA's top-commit for the class of 2012 -- he performed extremely well with his team and was one of the top-scorers in his age group.
Amedeo Della Valle is definitely a player for 'Cats fans to keep their eyes on this year.
