Dwane Casey, fresco campione NBA come assistente ai Dallas Mavericks, sembra essere il più serio candidato alla panchina dei Toronto Raptors per la prossima stagione.
Un altro candidato potrebbe essere Lawrence Frank, assistente a Boston, che ieri però è stato a colloquio con i Detroit Pistons

Just got a call from a Toronto source saying that Mavericks assistant Dwane Casey is expected to be announced as head coach of the Raptors.

It could be announced this afternoon.

Si vedra' finalmente (spero!) un gioco che valorizza il Mago (24-25 pg per la
prossima stagione...) Eppure e' una brutta notizia: significa che Andrea
restera' a lungo a Toronto.

non è semplicemtente un caso ? come quasi tutto ciò che capita da quelle parti

Mi adeguo allo spirito del forum (non sia altro per non farvi trascorrere le giornate
a toccarvi gli zebedei!) Se pero' tra un anno non gli avro' portato sfiga rivendico il

mah.. più che altro, forse è che colangelo con il rinnovo 'solo' biennale ha rifatto i calcoli e i piani hanno subito un'accelerazione.. cioè ok sviluppo giovani rebuilding ecc ecc, ma c'è anche bisogno di qualche risultato carino asap, e quindi di un coach più affidabile di triano.
vediamo.. se è così ora dovrebbe arrivare anche qualche giocaotre già esperto da mixare con le ultime scelte al draft, compresa quella di quest'anno, e le possibilità che il mago rimanga a toronto almeno un altro anno sono maggiori.. cmq imho il mago rimane ancora tradabile nei piani a medio termine di colangelo..

casey.. mi sembra una buona scelta, ovvio che anche lui ha avuto bisogno dei giocatori forti per vincere da vice, ma dicono che ha fatto un ottimo lavoro e viene da un'ambiente appena diventato vincente.. quindi nonstante non sia un 'santone' dovrebbe avere cmq carisma e autorità da spendere coi giocatori, per portere un po' di mentalità nuova nell'ambiente, che da 1 anno e mezzo - con triano sempre in scadenza - era diventato una fabbrica di alibi incrociati imho, più che un gruppo che lavorava unito par vincere

About Free flowing offense
-Thinks the team has a good young core (Andrea, Demar, James, Jose WTF)
-Wants to keep offense simple, where guys don't think
-Wants to play playoff style basketball, random play, ball movement, and trust the pass

How Casey defines NBA defensive mentality
-holding guys accountable
-will be a control freak defensively, will allow freedom on offense
-asked DeMar to put "physical imprint on the game"
-Used hockey videos for Mavs to block paint (how I interpreted it)

Wants to push the nature for defense, wants a good blend of holding guys accountable on both ends and nurturing them since its a young team

Jay did a good job (**** OFF)

What he will use to prove his credibility to players
-coaching at Kentucky, working with Rick Carisle, Japan, George Carl

He was up for coaching jobs in college, saw that Toronto was a good fit. Tom Thibodeau, his friend, went through the same situation.

The only thing he can control is playing time, and if players dont do their jobs defensively, their playing times will be discussed. If players dont take a shot they should take, he will penalize them for that

Putting high premium on offense, up tempo because they have the athleticism and young legs to do it

Said he doesn't know if Jay will be a part of the coaching staff, has respect for Jay, but will use his help. Hasn't talked about Jay being added to it

BC says it will be Dwane's process of adding assistant coaches.

How much the drafting philosophy has changed with Dwane on board
-with defensive mindset, there are players that will address that philosophy. BC will look at best talent, best fit, and the areas that he's looking to address. Even if its duplicating talent, he will do it since the business is about duplicating talent.

Dwane
-family man, passionate person, family says he works too much. Should never leave the floor if the player is on the floor. Wants to work with player. Develop and win games

-If a player wants to get better, its up to him. if he can yell at Jasons, Dirk, KG, and never done it in the way to embarass them, he can yell at this team

How he will make this team better defensively
-the roster has the talented pieces to make this team better defensively. Says he wouldn't want to be last in anything.

Whats the difference in scheme and effort
-Start a culture of hard play, thats the culture he wants to set. You can have all the intricate offenses and defenses in the world, but without hard work, its all "fluff"
-Saw DeMar working hard from day 1. You can control on how hard you play

How long before we see the result on the defensive end
-Promises from day 1. Wants the guys to be excited about defense. Wants them to have confidence in defense to stop teams like OKC, Boston, New York

Minnesota vs His current opportunity
-was an in between position, this team is more athletic younger, minny was middle of the road, aging players. Toronto is younger, athletic, enjoyed his time with Minny.

BC getting a call from Rick
BC said he got a call 130 in the morning after getting back from Europe, received call from Rick Carlisle, and said. Bryan, I want to know, what will it take to get Dwane that job in toronto. Said its a perfect job for him.

sul forum di RealGM i tifosi canadesi sono entusiasti del nuovo allenatore perchè intravedono la possibilità di Derozzo come nuova Superstar o franchise-player e molti minuti di Bargnani in panchina se dovesse rimanere a Toronto.... mi chiedo a volte cosa abbia fatto il Mago a questi canadesi
